This hotel provided a truly memorable experience, made even more impressive by their outstanding hospitality. Despite ongoing renovations, the staff went above and beyond to ensure our stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The breakfast buffet offered a good variety of options, and the room service was prompt and efficient. A special thank you to Diya and Faizal, who delivered impeccable service. Their attention to detail and genuine care made a significant difference in our stay. They were always ready to assist with any requests and provided a level of service that exceeded expectations. While the renovations were noticeable, the impact on our stay was minimal, thanks to the proactive efforts of the staff. We highly recommend this hotel and look forward to returning once the renovations are complete to experience the fully realized property. The dedication to guest satisfaction is evident, and we were thoroughly impressed.

Property is old but well maintained. |While check-in, there was only one staff, but he made sure the check-in process was smooth. The room we were allotted has some dirt, and the tea stirrer from previous guest was not cleaned. But staff quickly took care of that. |Pool was well maintained. Staff was quite helpful and explained about the places that we can visit. This helped us plan as were there only for a day. |Check-out process was smooth and without delay.

The property has a great view of the Arabian Sea and is perched on top of a cliff. Accessing the beach is a 5 min hike through the property until you reach the public path, which is another short hike through pretty brooks and country scenes. The hike back to the top is breathtaking - literally than figuratively! The rooms are spacious but a tad old in terms of decor and amenities. The whole property could do with a makeover. The food at the restaurant makes up for all that’s a miss at the property. The restaurant staff are very good with service and make good recommendations based on your taste preferences. The spa was equally good and affordable.

Sylvan surrounding with lot of greenery around, stay was very pleasant. Excellent service with helpful and friendly staff. Delicious food. Very nice spots to visit nearby. Hotel has a very good travel desk to hire vehicles for visiting tourist spots. Housekeeping service is excellent . Dining facilities at the restaurant and in room are very good .

This hotel is very nice, with large and clean rooms overlooking the gardens, which are immaculate. The swimming pool is beautiful and very relaxing – we also enjoyed a lovely game of croquet whilst here! There was construction going on whilst we stayed which distracted from the experience a little, and many items of food on the pool menu were not available. Whilst all staff were very friendly, I didn’t feel like the breakfast food options or restaurant layout was reflective of a luxury hotel. Similarly, there is no private beach access, it is just a shortcut down to be road leading to the beach, albeit pleasant enough.

Great place to stay in Varkala but it's a bit expensive. There is a way to directly go to the Varkala beach. The path is a little narrow. Food was good. The location is also good as it is in between south and north cliff.

We return to the Gateway for several weeks, year after year, as it is a most unique hotel. The hotel setting, in lush tropical grounds is magical & it is wonderful to sit by the beautiful pool in the evening & watch the sun go down. However it is the hotel staff, who are the most courteous, attentive & friendly that we have ever encountered throughout our travels, that makes this hotel stand out from the rest.

The property is very good, bit old but good. Only issue is their food and services 1. Food has limited options 2. Food will take couple of hours to get delivered 3. Insufficient and inefficient staff 4. Food is delivered to local tourist first and then Non Malyali guests. Not worth the money.
