Ferreira House

From the moment that my mother and I set foot into the Ferreira family’s remarkable historic townhouse, we felt included, taken care of, and completely welcomed. The location of the boutique guesthouse in Khotachiwadi Heritage Village provided aesthetically pleasing and tranquil respite from the hustle and bustle of Mumbai, and our bedroom was very comfortable and well-equipped. It was lovely meeting James and his brother Owen, and Marise was exceptionally helpful and generous with her time from afar – it’s a shame we didn’t get to meet her in person! All in all, our stay here was unforgettable and we managed to experience a unique part of Mumbai’s history with all of the creature comforts needed to start the rest of our holiday off on the right foot. Thoroughly recommended. If you want to feel like a houseguest and not a paying guest this is the place for you.

Unique heritage place with long, interesting family history behind. The host was a super helpful and outcomming person. The place was very clean, and localization was amazing. During our stay, we had a chance to have really interesting conversations with the owner. Expect family home atmosphere. Best place I have stayed in India so far! :)

We had the privilege of staying in this historical home recently as a 'staycation' and it was great. The rooms were well-appointed and cosy, and there were many charming artifacts displayed around the house. The Ferreira mansion is a short walk from Charni Road railway station, so it's easily reachable by public transport. The best part was meeting and conversing with THE James Ferreira. All in all, spending a couple of days exploring the quaint neighbourhood of Khotachiwadi proved to be just the thing needed to recharge one's batteries.

Amazing homestay and hospitality by the Ferreiras!!! I was skeptical in booking it, but took my chances and wasn't disappointed. The home owner and support staff are just amazing people. Would highly recommend and love to return again here.

A hidden gem in a city bursting at its seams ...time seems to slow down and a feeling of peace fills you up ...Ferreira house is a must stay if u plan to visit Mumbai and need a place to stay in South Mumbai ..heritage , East Indian food and ofcourse Mr.James Ferreira himself ....a fashion designer , artist and one of the warmest humans ...his knowledge of design and art will fascinate you and his stories of his life will keep you in splits ....

My husband and I had a wonderful stay at Ferreira House. James and his sister Maryse are wonderful hosts and they were very helpful with all of our questions about Mumbai. We had a very comfortable room with private bath, and we enjoyed the delicious breakfast. Best of all, the house is located in a historic Mumbai neighborhood that is convenient and atmospheric. I'd definitely stay here again if I return to Mumbai.

Positive: The Staff were great, they did everything in their hands to make sure your stay is pleasant, it just feels like home. The location is nice in Kolaba. AC available in rooms. The breakfast (specially the traditional Indian) was delicious. James and Pandu can't thank you enough.. Negative: It's a guest house, so don't expect all hotel facilities..
