In general, the experience was quite good. Starting with the check in, it was fast and with no hurdles.All of the staff in here are quite friendly and maintain a smile; this makes you feel welcome. In the room, I didn't find any cleanliness issues; it was quite the opposite: from the very beginning, the room was well kept.The location is just the best because there are so many shopping and dining options at a walking distance. A good example is the Shazhou market to which I went to several times during my stay there. It's also very easy to hop on a taxi and visit the sand dunes and the crescent moon lake given that it's close.I tried the breakfast Buffet one time and wasn't particularly impressed by it. For 58 yuan, I got to choose mostly carbs (sweet potato, rice, steamed buns, bread slices...more rice) and boiled eggs. As mentione above, you would be better off if you go out of the hotel to find better food.

The location of the hotel is right next to the night market. Only 10 minutes by taxi to crescent lake. We booked the family room. Very nice and spacious. The king bed however was very hard. I wouldn’t even call it a mattress. Housekeeping staff was very friendly and helpful. The staffmember at the check in could be friendlier, but all other staff was really friendly. Breakfast had enough options, also for foreigners. Our kids were a little disappointed that the table tennis table was under maintenance

We are 2 couples from Malaysia visiting Dunhuang. When we arrived by train from Lanzhou, we will surprised by the hotel with a free pick up from the railway station at 6.30am. When we arrived at the hotel, we were given a complimentary buffet breakfast while they prepared our rooms for an early check in. The room were clean and staff are very helful and friendly. We stayed in room 1030 and 1055 for 3 nights, when we asked for information on getting to the railway station for our onwards journey to Jiayuguan, they again offered us a free drop off. Great location, good food and a very wonderful experience for us. We will be back again next years with more of our friends. 👍👍👍👍👍

The resort is very large and offering various type of accommodation from dormitories to private villas.I refer to the hotel, which is a professionally managed of international standard. The rooms are homely decorated and furnished with a local touch. The beds are not local but comfyly soft. ||The staff is extremely friendly and helpful - particularly the concierges Eric and Michael helped me with a very unusual request! English is patchy with many of the staff, though. There's Chinese food and some western food -like pizzas, pasta dishes and sandwiches- available. The western food is not haute cuisine but comfort food - I loved it after 2 weeks of roughing it in the country side. They even do proper Gin Tonics that you can enjoy as a sun downer on the roof top terrace with a fantastic view of the dunes. I did this three days in a row! Breakfast has a wide selection of western and asian favorites, the only set back: the cheese was processed cheese slices in plastic. The baguette bread was fresh, eggs would be cooked to order, a selection of real juices as well as coffee was available and there was real butter and good jams and marmelade (I can't deal with Chinese breakfast, I'm afraid, even after 15 years in the country.).||Breakfast was included in the room price.||||The resort is easy to reach by car (free parking for hotel guests) but rather far from downtown. It's within walking distance of the dunes and sits right next to the venue of the folklore show. To the airport it's a 15 minutes drive, the hotel offers free transfer.||||I visited in off season and had a calm and pleasant stay - I could imagine that the area becomes buzzing in main season. Next time I will be in Dunhuang I will definitely stay here again.

We stayed in the suite for families. While there was lots of room, the room with the double bed had no window. This was not nice. We live in China and like the Chinese firm beds, but these were beyond firm and not comfortable. The pool was why we wanted to stay here, but we were not informed that it cost 25 yuan per person to use, including kids, until after our swim. Disappointing! However, the staff are very friendly. It was strange to us that they constantly entered our room when we were not there to leave services like a foot bath or a humidifier, which were not requested. The whole place has a run down feel that is kind of creepy and at this price, other hotels in the area are nicer.

I moved here half way through my stay in Dunhuang. It is an outstanding hotel. The rooms are 5 star and the staff are great. It is in an excellent location, right in front of the mini buses to the caves and just around the corner from the number 3 bus that goes to the dunes. The entry to the Shazhou Night Market is 50 metres from the front door and this is a fabulous area to hang out and eat every night. Thee are also lots of coffee shops. Currently at 280Y a night for a lovely double room, it has to be the best bargain in Dunhuang. The Wifi signal is a little weak and sometimes it is difficult to find an English speaker but I discussed these problems with the manager and they may be fixed soon. Ask them to organise your tickets for the attractions, even the full day trip to Yadan and you may be pleasantly surprised.

Had just spent about 12 days on a train from Moscow touring Central Asia and this was the first hotel we had stayed at and I literally loved everything about. From the quirky fort like design, to the friendly professional staff, the comfortable locally themed rooms, the magnificent Chinese restaurant for dinner, the splendid rooftop restaurant for breakfast (with glorious views of the dunes) and the fact that had smoking rooms. ||||At night the hotel and its grounds were gloriously lit up.||||Highly recommended........
