益阳华天大酒店

We spent one night at the Huatian Hotel in mid-July, while on a trip to bring our daughter back to China to see the area from which she was adopted. From my understanding, the hotel is the “class act” for Yiyang, a smaller provincial town that is rapidly growing at present. ||||The hotel is not in the center of town but in a growing newer area but is not far away, with a major shopping building and bank across the street, and some restaurants nearby. We were in a VIP superior twin room on a top floor – the AC unit was not real efficient (in the July heat it only got the temperature down to basically comfortable – maybe 26C degrees (high 70s)), though I know that some other rooms were better. The room was fairly small but correct, and all worked well. We had breakfast included – as I recall it was not bad; the restaurant was I think on the 2nd floor. (There is another breakfast buffet in the hotel without western food, as I recall). The front desk staff was courteous and spoke a bit of English. They also had a massage/spa center that we did not use, with good prices – an 80 minute foot massage was I think 68 yuan. We had a computer hooked up to the internet for use in our room - all in Chinese Windows, making it hard to sign-in to gmail...||||We had no real complaints with the hotel, although it was not the same class (nor price) of the hotels we stayed in, in larger cities throughout China. Overall, it felt like a decent, large modern provincial hotel catering mainly to businessmen.

七月中旬，我们带着女儿回中国参观她被收养的地区，在华天酒店住了一晚。据我了解，这家酒店对于益阳这个目前正在快速发展的小省会城市来说是“一流的表演”。 ||||酒店不在市中心，而是在一个不断发展的新区域，但距离不远，街对面有一座大型购物大楼和银行，附近还有一些餐馆。我们住在顶层的 VIP 高级双床房 - 空调效率并不高（在 7 月的炎热天气里，它只能将温度降到基本舒适的水平 - 可能是 26 摄氏度（70 多度）），不过我知道其他一些房间房间更好。房间相当小，但是很合适，一切都运转良好。我们的早餐包含在房费里——我记得还不错。我认为餐厅在二楼。 （酒店还有自助早餐，我记得没有西餐）。前台工作人员很有礼貌，会说一点英语。他们还有一个按摩/水疗中心，我们没有使用，价格也不错——80分钟的足部按摩我想68元。我们房间里有一台连接互联网的电脑，都是中文 Windows，很难登录 gmail...||||我们对酒店没有真正的抱怨，尽管这不是酒店的特色。与我们在中国大城市住过的酒店相同级别（或价格）。总体而言，它感觉像是一家体面的大型现代化省级酒店，主要接待商务人士。

Rooms had a large king sized bed, many pillows. Rooms were attractive but not "chinese" looking - if not for the chinese writing on the directory and phone, you could have been in a nice european hotel. I did not find any odor of smoking unlike other reviewers. I understand that one tower has western toilets and the other Chinese - if this is an issue, I would specificy with your reservation. My colleagues were very happy withe the buffet but be aware western does not mean croissants, scrambled eggs, etc. The token western items were coffeeand some generic cereal. The remainder of the food is chinese - western has to do with it being presented buffet and not served at a round table. One dinner we were at the Huation restaurant - fancy, more formal presentation. My only complaints is that the carpets were stained (not dirty - the room was very clean) and that the airconditioning is suboptimal. Plan on bringing a spare plastic card to run the air conditioner when you are out of the room, otherwise the room never gets cool.

After reading a scary review of the place we booked in YiYang, we decided to upgrade to the Huatian based only on it's TripAdvisor ranking.||||Glad we did. ||||As YiYang doesn't get many "lao wei" (foreigners) we weren't sure if this place would be as good as advertised on TripAdvisor. Some Chinese hotels are highly rated by Chinese guests, but not frankly comparable to Western standards.||||That is not the case at the Huatian. ||||Although we stayed in the lower rent "B" Tower, the rooms were immaculate and show signs of very recent (as of July 2011) renovations, with new carpeting and modern bathrooms. The air conditioning was excellent -- an important consideration in Hunan's heat -- and overall the rooms were clean and efficient.||||The beds were firm but comfortable with -- hallelujah! -- clean duvets and pillowcases. Great water pressure and lots of hot water in the shower. ||||Ethernet-based Internet was a bit pokey but otherwise okay. TV received only one or two English channels. ||||The buffet breakfast was fair to middling but far better than most you'd get in a Chinese hotel. ||||Yes, this place is not right downtown in YiYang but it's very close. I'd make it a 5 minute cab ride and maybe a 30 minute walk to the boardwalk area along the river, which gets very busy at night with lots of street vendors and an amusement park for kids. ||||Clearly, this place doesn't have the extras that would make it a five-star. There's no bowling alley like at the Dolton in Changsha. But really it's the rooms that counts, and these are great. ||||Like all Chinese hotels, there's some smoking in the public areas. And we witnessed a bizarre drunken confrontation in the lobby that was either approaching violence or homo-erotic. We couldn't tell.

Please note that you really must have a Chinese speaker with you to successfully manage your stay in this hotel. The staff is terribly unfriendly and unhelpful. Our bathroom floor was laden with hair belonging to previous guests and the carpet had clearly not been vacuumed in months. This was true in both of the two rooms we reserved and in their lounge as well. Each night our air conditioning was turned off at 2:00am, not to be turned back on until 7:00am. The rooms became stifling and daily complaints were met with complete indifference. The 6th floor is an adventure in itself as it is supposed to house guest rooms but is clearly used for less virtuous purposes. As the elevator doors open to this floor you will find a purple glowing reception desk with red lights illuminating the hallways and beads hanging across doorways. Smoking is allowed in all guest rooms and although the smell really was not overpowering, two nights in a row I woke up to the smell coming through our vents. I will say that our bedsheets appeared to be very clean and ultimately that was my greatest concern. However, we will NOT be visiting the hotel again. If the staff had been apologetic or sympathetic we might actually consider it but the women at the front desk were some of the rudest hotel employees I've ever encountered and really, they are the reason we do not recommend this hotel.

价格偏贵，一晚上六百多，两三百比较合理吧。酒店比较好找，周边有大商场，买东西方便。旁边也有公园，对这家酒店的整体印象非常好。酒店有些年头了，虽然不是新潮的酒店，但是比较舒服。房间里有电视和电脑，电视是液晶的，电脑的速度不快。还有衣柜，墙壁是白色的，床单被罩也是白色的。卫生间是玻璃隔断的，热水24小时提供。房间的隔音效果还可以，铺设有地毯。酒店有停车场，在酒店的门口。车位比较多，服务质量还挺热情的。

环境挺好的，服务员服务态度也好。周围交通比较方便，在市区，在一个十字路口边，出租车、公交车都很多，出酒店门就能打到车，右前方有个比较大的超市。服务员有什么事情都处理的比较及时，感觉有回到家中那种舒服的感觉。设施都还比较齐全。房间空间比较宽敞，采光、通风效果还行，卫生挺好的，比较干净。

200多的房间价格没达到，各方面都没达到， 本来还有500多的. 我入住他是200多，我一进去看这也不咋地， 房间里装饰还过的去，环境各方面都过的去，比起其他的还有不如意的，房间卫生还可以， 服务态度也可以。地理位置还可以，交通挺便利的，普通的三星级，比其他的三星级价格要高点。房间的舒适度，卫生都还可以。四周环境，我去的时候路口正在装修，大堂装修挺简单的

Third time staying at the Huatian Yiyang, and a pleasant trip had again.||||Unlike our trip earlier this year, this time the rooms were ready on time and were quite nice, obviously having been recently renovated (we stayed in the original "building A" on level 11).||||As per our last trip there was a conference (or 2?) happening in the hotel, so a very busy place with important people smoking everywhere.||||The pool in the basement (building B) is great, perfect with kids, flotation rings, banana lounges and friendly staff.||||This time they charged to use it though. However each room we booked came with 1 free voucher & we pointed at the kids, and they handed over another voucher for each room so we had enough for the one night we stayed.||||The "Chinese western Mango" in the building next door (level 2) was a good spot for dinner, nice place to sit, reasonable price and a good array of local food, with some western bits if needed. Very easy menu to navigate too.||||Only downsides were:||- smoking everywhere (which is not a surprise in a smaller town), however seemed to permeate the air system more at night when we were going to sleep (i.e. we were coughing a bit) so we turned off all the air systems even though it was winter & opened a window||- breakfast buffet was a very busy affair, with a shortage of many bits at different times||- Huatian restaurant. This is the fancy restaurant in the hotel, probably the fanciest place in town. for the second time we looked at eating there and were rebuffed and escorted down to the "food street" restaurant downstairs. We have a bit of Mandarin, they actually had an english menu, yet they wouldn't take a booking (maybe too hard to explain to us a minimum price for the private banquet rooms or who knows?) upshot being we ate a good meal next door.||||Staff were friendly and helpful. Haven't tried anywhere else in Yiyang yet, but this worked well, just don't be surprised if a smoky affair.

第三次入住华天逸阳，又是一次愉快的旅行。||||与今年早些时候的旅行不同，这次房间按时准备好了，相当不错，显然最近刚装修过（我们住的是原来的房间） “A 楼”位于 11 层）。||||根据我们上次的旅行，酒店正在举办一个会议（或 2 个？），所以这是一个非常繁忙的地方，重要人物到处都在吸烟。||||泳池地下室（B 楼）很棒，非常适合孩子们、漂浮圈、香蕉休息室和友好的工作人员。||||不过，这次他们要收费使用它。然而，我们预订的每个房间都附有一张免费优惠券，我们指着孩子们，他们又给了每个房间另一张优惠券，所以我们住了一晚就够了。||||大楼里的“中西芒果”隔壁（2 楼）是吃晚餐的好地方，坐的好地方，价格合理，有一系列当地美食，如果需要的话还可以提供一些西餐。导航菜单也非常简单。||||唯一的缺点是：||-到处都是吸烟（这在小城镇里并不奇怪），但是在晚上我们要睡觉的时候（即，吸烟）似乎更多地渗透到空气系统中。我们有点咳嗽）所以即使是冬天我们也关掉了所有的空调系统并打开了一扇窗户||-自助早餐非常繁忙，在不同的时间有很多东西短缺||-华天餐厅。这是酒店里的高档餐厅，可能是城里最高档的地方。我们第二次考虑在那里吃饭，但遭到拒绝并被护送到楼下的“美食街”餐厅。我们会说一点普通话，他们实际上有英文菜单，但他们不接受预订（也许很难向我们解释私人宴会厅的最低价格，或者谁知道呢？）结果是我们吃了一顿美餐隔壁。||||工作人员很友好，乐于助人。还没有在益阳的其他地方尝试过，但这家效果很好，只是如果有烟熏的事情，不要感到惊讶。
