very nice place to visit. Assure you get a good and honest tour guide. Too many are crooked and asked for tips and bragged about how good they are. Do not tip until you think they deserve the service. We did not tip our guide. He made too much money on the items he was pushing unto the tourists!

One hour hike up to a 100 years old residential house. The elder lady is pretty sharp, she explained the house in Chinese. Her souvenir price is good. Along the hike obe can see how natives grow rice.

Great experience, great views, and great atmosphere. 龙胜梯田山庄 (Lóngshèng tītián shānzhuāng, lit. 'Longsheng' rice terraced mountain town) is a great place to spend a weekend or a long day trip. If you're in Guilin (桂林) this is definitely worth trying to make time to visit. The road there is a bit windy, and the designated buses will definitely give you an exciting ride, yet once you're there it's truly beautiful. There are plenty of hotels and it appears that there is a night life also. I saw plenty of places at night selling alcohol, some had pool tables, and I could hear people singing karaoke. Be sure to bring water as it can get quite hot and the vendors charge a lot more once you are up there for a bottle of water. Food is good with lots of options depending if you want more Western or Eastern food. Be sure to try the bamboo sticky rice at least once! You can't miss it, tons of vendors sell it. You'll see bamboo sticks over flame, filled with a sticky rice mix. Overall a good weekend or day trip and plenty of good views. I enjoyed it!

Strenuous trip but worth the effort. Wonderful view if no fog.
