Hotel Shyam Palace

Here you get spacious, new and clean rooms for a reasonable price. The biggest plus is the amazing location with only 5 minutes walk to the entrance of the Taj Mahal. The rooms are built around a beautiful courtyard which hosts a restaurant with delicious food and that invites us to relax. The manager makes everything possible and is a very good source for information. He is super helpful with great advice and helps to organize transport for very competitive prices. So we didn't need to use Uber and opted for his driver. Also all the staff especially Raj is super friendly, very attentive offering the restaurant services, but no one is angry if you opt to go outside to try other places or go for street food as well. We had dinner twice and it was very delicious for reasonable prices. There is also a free water refill station to avoid buying plastic bottles.👍 Thank you to all the staff of this hotel for an amazing three nights stay. We hope our next places will be as good as this one. Here you can truly feel relaxed like at home.

Booked this based on the location & that is the biggest plus for this hotel. It is just 5 minutes walk to the Taj Mahal West gate. Room was decent but very old- manageable for 1 day. We ordered lunch on the day we arrived and food was not good. Biryani did not have any flavour and curd rice had lot of oil with very less curd. We tried Chapathi with some side dish for dinner and it was good but food is expensive. Room had kettle and instant coffee powder but milk powder was not available. Food is available from around 8 AM till 9 AM. Front desk people were supportive and helped with any questions.

I had the worst experience staying at this property. I had booked my stay on booking.com. The only reason I booked this property was because they guaranteed early checkin when I called to ask. They did provide early checkin but the room was nothing like the pictures. It was like some old guesthouse room. I raised this with the manager but he was insistent that it was infact the same room. After an argument he admitted that the room was not what we saw in the pictures since it was yet to be renovated. He said that their checkin time was 12 pm (24hours mentioned on booking.com) since we asked for an early checkin that was the only room available. After some haggling, they upgraded me to their triple occupancy room. But later that night, there was an electrical short in that room causing fire and smoke. Now while I understand that such accidents happen, the hotel wasn’t equipped to deal with it. They just moved us back into the old room. Additional problems - power outage in the morning and failed power backup, geyser not working, too many lizards. Also the place was under renovation and so there was a lot of construction noise all the time and construction equipment lying around everywhere. Not only is it inconvenient for the guests who want to enjoy a peaceful vacation but also unsafe. Only one good thing, it is walking distance from Taj Mahal

Easy to book via WhatsApp. 2 mins walk from the Taj Mahal. There is always someone available to help 24/7. Check in was easy. International cards accepted (with 4% fee). Room was spotless. Hot water worked. Air conditioning and fan worked. We received towels, hand soap, bath wash, shampoo, lotion. Linens were clean. Restaurant in the hotel. My husband particularly enjoyed the vegetarian sour soup.

Location, location, location. This hotel is 200m frow the Taj Mahal West Gate (no view though) ! We have stayed a couple of nights in July : it was so hot that we could not enjoy the garden. The rooms are very clean and quiet as a distance from the busy street. Bathroom very good. It is a walking distance from the excellent (but expensive) Masala Bistro restaurant. You will find a laundry (2nd street right, dir. West Gate) managed by the kindest person in Agra. The Shyam Palace Hotel staff is very helpful too. Special thanks to Salman Shaikh who has helped me efficiently booking some tickets online (by paying with his own details) when my credit card was not accepted !

Best place ever. I am happy. I want to live here. Very good masala chai. Very good location because near Taj Mahal. All is well. Let there be sunshine. Nice garden like Olympus. Good price and clean room and washroom. All have been renovated.
